Encore hustling to pay the bills - Hustler Daily Thumbs Up - July 22

Hello fellow Encore Hustlers

Inflation, medical bills and unexpected expenses can force retirees to return to work after years of being out of the workforce.  Returning to work can be daunting but there are resources out there to help.

Read this story about Experience Works, a non-profit company with a mission of providing training and help finding employment opportunities for people over the age of 55.  The company, which operates in 11 states, receives funding from the U.S. Department of Labor and the states social service agencies.

Experience Works typically works with non-profits, Habitant for Humanity or the Red Cross for example, to offer part-time employment to seniors, with the aim of having them eventually return to a more permanent employment.  Experience Works also offers the incentive of underwriting almost half their wages and providing training for the new positions. Workers being sponsored by Experience Works can remain in the program for four years.

Helping seniors find a way out of poverty with a hands up and not a hands up sounds like a good our tax dollars.

Cheers,
Mr. EH
